In recent years, more and more couples have decided to seek professional help in order to better cope with problems that appear in their relationships. What does couples psychotherapy involve and what does it look like? How long does it last and how long do you have to wait for its effects? In what situations is couples therapy indicated and when is it better to use other forms of help? How can you encourage your partner to see a specialist? These and many other questions are answered by Dr. Bartosz Zalewski, psychologist and psychotherapist from SWPS University. The interview is led by Joanna Gutral, psychologist and psychotherapist from SWPS University in Warsaw. Dr. Bartosz Zalewski - psychologist, psychotherapist. His scientific interests include the processes of diagnosing people using free-form methods (psychological interviews) and research on the effectiveness of methods for teaching diagnostic skills. A certified psychotherapist of the Polish Psychiatric Association, he works at the Kontrakt Therapeutic and Training Center in Warsaw, where he conducts therapy for couples and marriages, as well as individual therapy using a systemic and psychodynamic approach. At SWPS University, she teaches psychology of close relationships, couples psychotherapy, and psychological diagnosis. Joanna Gutral – psychologist, PhD student at the Faculty of Psychology of Interdisciplinary Doctoral Studies at SWPS University in Warsaw, certified cognitive-behavioral psychotherapist, member of the Polish Society for Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy, graduate of the four-year postgraduate school of cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy at SWPS University. For years, she has been involved in psychoeducation, organizing workshops and meetings that raise awareness that psychotherapy is a method based on scientific evidence. She is a co-founder of the Zdrowa Głowa portal and organizer of the social campaign "Mam Terapeutę". She works as a lecturer at SWPS University in Warsaw. In the "ABC of Psychotherapy" series implemented as part of the Psyche Zone at SWPS University, together with invited guests, we discuss topics related to mental health.
