[Corrèze/Creuse Hike] 4-day long trek via crossing the Millevaches Plateau

Great 100 km walking tour in 4 days that we did in Limousin during the summer holidays of 2023. For this very first great walking tour, we went to Limousin to do a superb 80 to 100 km route between Meymac station (Corrèze) and Aubusson (Creuse) passing through the heart of the Plateau de Millevaches (Longeyroux peat bogs), the highest peaks of Corrèze (Mont-Bessou and Mont-Audouze) and going up the Creuse valley via the old Ussel/Felletin railway line. Throughout the route, several villages and towns will have been crossed (Meymac, Chavanac, Millevaches, Saint-Setiers, Le Mas-d'Artige, Felletin and Aubusson). Many viewpoints will have been discovered on the chain of volcanoes of Auvergne from Puy-de-Dôme to the Monts du Cantal via the crests of Sancy from the highest peaks of Corrèze and the Plateau de Millevaches culminating at more than 950 meters above sea level (Mont-Bessou and Mont-Audouze). At Mont-Bessou, the highest point of Limousin and of our journey, a panoramic tower allows to symbolically reach the 1000 meters above sea level at the summit. No less than 2 passes will have been climbed with the Col de la Croix de la Mission (alt: 915 m) and the Col de la Massoubre (alt: 811m). An old railway tunnel of the old Ussel/Felletin line will also have been crossed to reach the Creuse valley from the source of the Creuse and the Col de la Massoubre. Upon our arrival in Aubusson, we will obviously have taken the time to visit this charming town in Creuse, also walking along the heights of the town to discover the many viewpoints located in particular from the ruins of the old castle and the unmissable Clock Tower.
