How does life emerge from all this cellular machinery? What distinguishes it from what is not living? A molecular biologist and a biochemist will consider whether modern biology has exorcised for good the spirit of vitalism, which assumed that organisms are driven by non-physical "life forces". 19.00 LECTURE Dominika Dudek: Does psychiatry heal the soul? - and a concert by Kateryna Ziabliuk Prof. Dominika Dudek will talk about the methods and tools used in the treatment of mental disorders. She will also present the perspective from which contemporary psychiatry looks at the issue of what is the norm and what is a disorder, and explain how our well-being is influenced by our genes, relationships with other people, emotions, lifestyle, and our entire body. That evening, the well-being of the listeners will also be ensured by artistic experiences - a concert by pianist and composer Kateryna Ziabliuk. 20.15-21.00 INTERVIEW: How to maintain balance, Dominika Dudek, Łukasz Kwiatek After the lecture, we will talk with Prof. Dudek about whether we live in times of a mental health crisis and how to find a sense of meaning and fulfillment in a world where interactions between people are disappearing, while polarization and social tensions are increasing.
