COOPERATIVES - Folklore Festival under Poľana in Detva 13.7.24 AMPHITHEATER Saturday - July 13, 2024 8:00 PM - 9:15 PM Program of village folklore groups and folklore ensembles Theme, script and direction: Andrea Jágerová In 1949, the law on unified peasant cooperatives was adopted in Czechoslovakia and collectivization began in Slovak villages, i.e. the transformation of individual private farming into collective farming. It took place by voluntarily associating farmers into cooperatives, creating state-owned agricultural enterprises, but also by nationalization. It was a difficult task, in many locations associated with events that significantly affected the destinies of several people. Like other historical periods, the cooperativeization of villages was reflected in folk songs. In the 1950s, songs began to be written that responded to the problems, but also the advantages, of cooperative farming. They were composed by local teachers, exceptional singers or leaders of folklore groups. They were usually set to the melodies of well-known folk songs. The program Družstevníci will be a reflection on the social situation during the period of the establishment of unified peasant cooperatives in the Slovak countryside with an emphasis on cooperative folk songs.
