Ana and Alex are a married couple who come to tell us their testimony of restoration and repair. They have been married for 20 years and dating for 5 years. Alex comes from a Catholic family, his grandparents and his mother were people of great prayer. From time to time he went to the Eucharist but only very occasionally. In the last stage of school he meets his wife. They were acquaintances. Ana also comes from a very Catholic family, some people in her family have been religious. “Parents who pray for their children, don’t think that prayers are lost.” Ana’s boyfriend was a friend of Alex so she didn’t have much hope. Alex traveled out of the country and when he returned they saw each other again. Alex began to take an interest in Ana and they began a worldly courtship. Alex worked in the night world because he had businesses and that didn’t benefit him. “Our life was one of vanity, excess, staying up too late. The music we listened to was harmful to our soul. We were very materialistic,” they explain. They didn't even go to mass to show off, or have a social life. During this time, there came a time when Alex traveled to the United States again. He told her that he would return soon, but it took longer. Alex's basis at that time was money. He returned to Colombia and when he returned, she was very cold and distant. Then it was time to propose to her. "It was a very immature decision to get married. Without training and on impulse. We didn't understand the sacrament," he admits. Since both of their families were Catholic, they had the "duty" to get married in the Catholic Church. Ana's mother cried a lot, she thought that perhaps it would not be a viable marriage. "We were very irresponsible when we got married, we didn't even know where we were going to live afterwards." They left Jesus in the ceremony, in the Eucharist, because later they would leave the Lord there to live life their way. A few days before the wedding, Alex's father asked him what they were going to do after the wedding. He suggested that he sell his car to be able to pay the down payment on the apartment. He didn't want to be able to sell his car but he finally did it. In the meantime they would live at Ana's parents' house. “I felt like a married bachelor. For example, 10 days after my marriage, I was used to staying up every December 24th and partying until the next day, just like on New Year's Day.” For Alex, these types of situations were normal. That's when a relationship of lack of love and commitment in marriage began to take shape. “It was the beginning of a lot of pain. I started to feel a great feeling of regret and fear. I felt like I had gotten myself into something I couldn't get out of,” Ana explains. Ana felt alone and sad, and she was also feeling angry. When she handed over the keys to the apartment, she had no desire to start this new life. Don't miss this testimony!
