Team flash or team continuous? I always stand in the middle, using both solutions depending on what I have to do. Continuous light has a number of advantages - first of all, we can see immediately what the final photo will look like before pressing the shutter button, we can adjust its color temperature without having to apply gel filters, and working with an open aperture does not require any advanced systems. Of course, it also has a handful of disadvantages, such as significantly lower power than in the case of a flash at a similar budget. This time I'm taking you to the set of a photo session with Marlena at Stajnia Studio. We've worked on several lighting setups here, both on the cyclorama and in the loft part of the studio. We spent almost the entire day taking as many diverse photos as possible, while using no more than two lamps per setting, so you can easily take similar photos at home! This time, I received Hobolite lamps for testing, a novelty on the market. The company originates from a company that has been producing industrial LED solutions for years and has just entered the photo-video market, offering a truly unique product. Supposedly, light is light, but in this case, it is wrapped in designer, well-made housings. In addition, each lamp features a number of extremely well-thought-out solutions, such as a removable control panel or beautifully spreading light lenses instead of classic bowls. These are simply not just another boring lamp that does not stand out from the competition. Of course, there is no rose without thorns, because the lamps are among the most expensive on the market, comparing power, but not everything has to be cheap. I had a great time working with them, although they are not perfect, which I talk about in the film. However, I hope that due to the fact that the brand is young, it will take suggestions from the market to heart.
