In order to make the widening of the A1 possible, the railway bridge at Muiderberg must be extended. The larger span is necessary because of the wider A1 and this can only be achieved with an arch bridge made of steel and concrete. See also: http://bit.ly/spoorbrugmuiderberg. 255 meters long and 17 meters wide The bridge spans the A1 in one go, is approximately 255 meters long and has a width of approximately 17 meters. In order to bridge this large distance, the bridge will have a steel arch, so that the bridge is sufficiently strong and does not bend. The top of the steel arch will be 50 meters high. Schiphol-Amsterdam-Almere In the coming years, Rijkswaterstaat will widen the busy highways between Schiphol, Amsterdam and Almere with 1 or more lanes.
