Correction: Report: Jens Vos Camera: Jesse Weijn On the Grote Markt, fairground operators started building the Meikermis on Monday. The fair will open next Thursday. On Sunday, the Poffertjes stall on the Grote Markt was removed to make way for the Meikermis, which could not be held for the past two years due to the corona crisis. On Monday morning, the first operators arrived with their trucks with fairground attractions. After an afternoon of hard work, three attractions caught the last rays of sunshine on Monday evening. “The Disco Jumper, the Future Dance and the Jumbo are now up and running,” says news photographer Patrick Wind. The construction of the Meikermis will continue on Tuesday. Attractions will also be built on the Vismarkt. However, construction there cannot start until the market day is over. Nostalgic fairground attractions are being built on the Ossenmarkt. The Meikermis consists of dozens of attractions. New this year are the Toxic and the 65-metre-high Airborne.
