Each unit or mechanism of the concrete mixing unit (CMU) has its own functional purpose, the role of which should be clearly understood by buyers. Numerous sellers - intermediaries are ready to impose additional options that either turn out to be completely unnecessary or, according to their technical characteristics, are intended for another class of equipment. Therefore, without being tied to a specific manufacturer, we will present the basic information on the configuration of a typical CMU. The basic configuration of a typical CMU includes a concrete mixer, cement silos, inert bunkers (warehouses), auger, inert, water, chemical additives, cement dispensers, a conveyor - dispenser for feeding inert, a compressor and pump, a conveyor or skip hoist, as well as a control panel, strain gauges, sets of hardware, clamps, cables. The design solutions for bunkers and silos are quite diverse. Some manufacturers combine inert bunkers, pneumatics, a conveyor - dispenser into dosing complexes. As a rule, modern concrete mixing plants are equipped with two-shaft horizontal concrete mixers, in which two horizontal shafts equipped with twelve high-strength working blades rotate in opposite directions. The concrete mixer must have a water supply system (spraying) for uniform distribution during mixing, as well as for cleaning the mixer. Silos of various capacities are intended for storing cement. Some manufacturers of concrete mixing plants, for example, the ZZBO plant, offer them for delivery as an additional option, since the silo can be manufactured on site or a used version can be selected. Definitely, the silo must be equipped with filters to prevent cement dust from entering the atmosphere, and in the lower part of the silo there must be nozzles for supplying compressed air for aeration of cement. Silos must be waterproofed from external moisture. A very important element of the smooth operation of the concrete mixing plant is the dosing and transportation system for the components of the future concrete mix. This includes batchers, strain gauges, belt conveyors. Their operation is regulated by an automatic control system. Having a basic understanding of the BSU configuration, the buyer, as a person directly interested in its subsequent profitable operation, will be able to correctly evaluate the proposed range of equipment, its technical level and production capabilities.
