Concarneau [kɔ̃.kaʁ.no] (in Breton Konk-Kerne) is a commune in the Finistère department in the Brittany region of France. The third largest commune in the department by population, the capital of a canton and an urban community, Concarneau, which includes the former communes of Beuzec-Conq and Lanriec, is a town located on the Cornish coast in the Bay of La Forêt. The town was formed in the Middle Ages from the walled town located in the Moros estuary. This natural shelter allowed the development of the seventh largest French fishing port in terms of landed tonnage and major shipyards. Its coastal location and historical heritage make it a leading Breton tourist destination today.
