This video is all about the "holy grail" of the garden - compost! ???????? We delve deep into the art of composting and show you how to make your soil nutrient-rich and fertile with the right method and the right materials. The result? Abundant harvests year after year ???????? - the basis for healthy plants and a vital garden! We talk about the most important aspects of composting: Where do I put my compost? What goes in it? How do I keep it moist and aerated? And most importantly: When is the soil ready for the beds? You'll get lots of tips on how to speed up the process without compromising on the quality of your compost soil. So, grab yourself a cup of tea ☕ and let's get started - your garden will thank you! ???? 1. Introduction Why compost is the key to a healthy garden ???? Nutrient-rich soil = better harvest and more vital plants 2. Location of the compost heap Ideal: slightly shady, no risk of waterlogging Why I use a roof and plant shading ☂️???? 3. The right container Wooden composter: sustainable, airy, and beautifully natural ???? Open soil for earthworms and good drainage ???? 4. Moisture Perfect balance: not too wet, not too dry Water when dry and cover when it's raining heavily ????️???? 5. Ventilation Open walls for fresh air ???? Layer loosely – never step on the compost! ???????? Turn the layer over for faster rotting 6. *Temperature* High temperatures (40-60°C) for optimal rotting ????️???? A drop in temperature is a sign that the compost is ready 7. Materials Everything organic stays in the garden: leaves, grass clippings, manure, kitchen waste ???????? Layers no thicker than 20 cm - variety is the key ???? Fresh compost or garden soil as a "starter" for the microorganisms ???? 8. Faster compost Turn the layer over after the hot phase and have ready soil after just 4 months 9. When is the compost ready? A drop in temperature shows maturity ????️ I usually leave the compost for 6 months Coarse parts remain for soil structure, fine soil for growing young plants ???? 10. Additional additions - is this necessary? Biochar: Creates long-term fertilizer by storing nutrients ???? - not absolutely necessary for frequent composters like me, as there is always new material available. Primary rock flour: Richer in minerals - particularly helpful if you are composting plants that are not very rich in minerals, such as wild herbs ????. EM microorganisms: Immediately promote a good climate in the compost ???? - but with lots of leaves and plant material you can achieve the same effect naturally. These additions are useful, but not a must. Decide for yourself what works best for your compost! ???????? I hope you now have lots of new ideas for your compost project! ???? Abundant harvests every year, week after week, month after month. So, roll up your sleeves and get out into the garden! I hope you have lots of fun composting - see you next week! ????????‍????
