The film-comic is a story about our great cyclists from the 60s and 70s. The main character Ryszard Szurkowski agreed to create a comic book about him, in order to remind about the successes of cycling from those years. At that time, sport played a much bigger role in the lives of Poles than it does today, and a special place was occupied by the cycling Peace Race, which is to be revived in 2014. Every year in May, cyclists rolled through Poland, the GDR and Czechoslovakia, and crowds of people cheered them on along the route. In the whole of Poland, life on the streets died down, because everyone gathered around radios and televisions and looked out for Polish white and red jerseys in the peloton. They say that this was amateur cycling, which I cannot agree with. Cyclists covered the same routes as professionals - our cyclists had no choice in those times, such was the system. It was Czesław Lang who was the first Pole to turn professional. Our cyclists competed with the greatest cyclists in the world, such as: Eddi Merxx and others. We invite you to a meeting with Ryszard Szurkowski and other excellent Polish cyclists, with the Peace Race and the atmosphere surrounding it, which electrified all of Poland!
