The Cochrane Gambit is created after 1.e4-e5 2.Nf3-Nf6 3.Nxe5-d6 4.Nxf7 and is an interesting gambit against the Russian Defense. John Cochrane first played this sacrifice in 1848 in Calcutta. White prevents the opponent from castling and makes sure that the king does not disappear from the center. He brings his own king to safety and then initiates an attack with a wide pawn center.
