Cobasi entered the pet and plant market when 'everything was still a jungle'. It was founded in 1985 by a family: a father, Rames Nassar, a biologist, and his sons João, Paulo and Ricardo, who ran the operation. In the beginning, Cobasi was actually a store selling agricultural products such as veterinary medicines, hay and even saddlery items. In the 90s, they risked changing their focus to pets and the bet proved to be very successful. Since then, the company has multiplied in size many times over. Today, it has more than 180 stores spread across 15 Brazilian states and the Federal District, surpassed the R$2.5 billion mark in revenue in 2022 and captured around 6% of a market that is still quite fragmented.
