Extreme mountaineer Jost Kobusch wants to climb the highest peak in the world. Alone, without artificial oxygen and in winter, when no one else is climbing the 8848-meter-high Mount Everest. A risky undertaking. No one has ever managed it before. Jost Kobusch wants to test his own limits and make a statement against mass tourism on the mountain. The plan sounds bold: Jost Kobusch wants to be the first extreme mountaineer to climb the highest peak in the world alone and in winter. Without oxygen. On a new route. He wants to face the force of nature with as few resources as possible - a fair test of strength, appropriate to the majestic size of Mount Everest. He criticizes the commercialization of extreme sports and those people who do not belong on the mountain due to a lack of skill and physical fitness. The young German therefore sees his plan not only as a personal experience that pushes the limits, but also as a protest against mass tourism. The solo extreme mountaineer does not want to join the ranks of those climbers who, in spring when the weather conditions are good, climb to the summit with the help of Sherpas: amateur mountaineers who leave their rubbish, tents and oxygen bottles lying around, scramble past corpses and then join a queue like at the check-in - a bizarre, disturbing image, but reality. The summit of Mount Everest is in the so-called death zone: at this altitude, the risk of dying from altitude sickness or edema is very high because the oxygen level is too low. It is almost impossible for even well-trained and acclimatized mountaineers to survive for more than 48 hours at this altitude. Will Jost Kobusch be the first person in the world to conquer Mount Everest solo and in winter? And what do experts and fellow mountaineers think of this plan and how do they view mass tourism on Mount Everest?
