The south ridge on the Dohlenfels was first climbed over 100 years ago (1910) and the smooth footholds and holds show that the tour has remained very popular over the years. Depending on the variant, a hard 5 or 6 can be climbed, although long stretches offer easier climbing. The protection in the difficult sections is good, but in between you need to take your own initiative. The rope lengths are variable, so that if you climb the entire ridge you get between 3 and 5 SLs.
