Initially, the depot served the Łódź - Pabianice connection. In 1910, a connection was launched to Ruda Pabianice, which was later extended to Tuszyn via Rzgów during World War I. In 1934, the Łódź–Sieradz bus line was launched, and its facilities were also located on the premises of this depot. After the establishment of the Municipal Transport Company (since 1951, the Municipal Transport Company), the depot was given the number 3. After World War II, city lines were also created. In 1960, the track layout of the hall was changed from frontal to through by including the adjacent terminus in the depot area and the tracks that still exist today were built on the parking lot. 49 years later, the technical facilities were modernized and the number of hall tracks was reduced from 9 to 8. In January 2012, after the depot on Dąbrowskiego Street was liquidated, Chocianowice became Tram Operation Plant No. 2. After 120 years, the Chocianowice depot was renovated. A modern tram service center is being built. The depot initially served only the route to Pabianice, and over time began to serve half of the rolling stock that the city has. Currently, the construction of a new track and traction system is coming to an end, and the building together with the infrastructure is over 60 percent complete. In the coming weeks, the contractor will continue work related to the installation of the roof covering and the construction of reinforced concrete walls. The depot is to be put into use in the second quarter of this year. As part of the investment, the building's elevation will be renovated - its original form and architectural details will be restored. In addition, stylized entrance gates and new window joinery will appear, and the interior of the hall will be enriched with a number of exposed wooden girders. The scope of work also includes the replacement of tracks and the traction network, and the reconstruction of the power supply system together with the transformer station. The value of the work is over PLN 136 million gross. The investment is carried out in the "design and build" formula and is financed in part from European Union funds.
