Cinderella is the only daughter of a widowed knight, a good and loving father who feels that his daughter needs a mother's attention. So thinking so, he remarries, choosing for his second wife Lady Tremaine, a widow of an old friend, from a good family with two daughters the same age as her: Drizella and Anastasia. After Cinderella's father dies unexpectedly, Lady Tremaine is revealed to be a cruel and selfish woman, who only cares about the well-being and future of her daughters. Cinderella becomes the servant and cook in her own house, where she is humiliated and mistreated by her in-laws.
