After decades of waiting and three years of preparation for the project itself, in early October, the implementation of a public line transportation network that connected all places in the Šibenik-Knin County, making life easier for the population, especially in the rural, poorly developed parts of Dalmatia, began. They waited for a long, too long time and finally they met, that's the shortest way to describe the situation with the traffic connection, which this October, like the summer of Miholy, illuminated the population of most places in the Šibenik-Knin County. What it was like to live in the middle, especially poorly developed villages, where in addition to water and electricity, transport to the city was a luxury and a daily necessity, only those who have suffered with the lack of it for decades know. Neither to the hospital, nor to the doctor, nor to the store, nor to the post office to pay the bills, they couldn't go anywhere that easily, not always when they needed it, unless they had their own vehicle or a high enough income to pay the exorbitant prices for these services. taxi drivers. And many, unfortunately, most often did not have. Where there was luck and there were at least a few children of school age in the village, for whom organized transport would come during the school year, that one line a day, at least one connection with the city, was more than precious. During the holidays, even that "luxury" would be absent. Many, waiting, gave up and looked for an opportunity for a better life in cities, most often in other countries. It wasn't difficult to understand, because it was impossible to travel to work even if there was a job opportunity. Until this October. The new network of public transportation in the county now includes 32 lines, with at least five daily departures during the working day from each place, as well as two intercounty lines. The price of a single ticket for one ride ranges from 1 to a maximum of 8.5 euros. The area of the county is divided into 23 transport zones, while the ticket price consists of 10 zones. What is particularly important is that it includes lines that did not exist until now because they were not economically profitable. The state and the county allocated 32 million euros for this project over the next seven years, which is how much the financing model for this public service was established. Šibenik-Knin County created a network of public transport lines in the county area as a basis for concluding a contract on public service in the transport of passengers in the amount of 31,752,134.75 euros, of which the county covers 25 percent, i.e. 7,938,033.75 euros, and the Ministry sea, traffic and infrastructure 75 percent or 23,814,101.25 euros. The project of the network itself was prepared by the Faculty of Traffic of the University of Zagreb. Our goal was to better connect all residents of the county with the county center. Through the public procurement procedure, we chose the most favorable offer and after that, with the Association of Bidders, "Vinceka" doo and "Slavonija Bus" doo, we signed the framework agreement for public scheduled passenger transport for a period of seven years - explains Deputy Prefect of Šibenik-Knin County Ognjen Vukmirović, who, according to the prefect himself, was most advocating for the population of the Dalmatian hinterland to finally stop being isolated by traffic.
