“Junto ao Presepe” is, perhaps, the most beautiful among the twenty-six Christmas articles written by Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira. On December 22, 1946, Doctor Plinio published it in “Legionário”, the most influential Catholic newspaper in Brazil, which he himself directed. The text of this video is the beginning of this article, the words of which are the best description of the video itself. Here they are, therefore: The feast of Your Holy Christmas is approaching once again, Lord. Once again, Christianity is ready to venerate You in the manger of Bethlehem, under the twinkling of the star, or under the even clearer and more brilliant light of Mary's maternal and sweet eyes. At your side is Saint Joseph, so absorbed in contemplating You, that he seems not to even notice the animals that surround You, and the choirs of Angels that tore through the clouds and sing, clearly visible, in the highest of the Heavens. In a little while, you will hear the troop of Magi arriving, bringing gifts of gold, incense and myrrh on the back of extensive caravans guarded by countless families. Over the centuries, others will come to venerate your presepe: from India, Nubia, Macedonia, Rome, Carthage, Spain, Gauls, Franks, Germans, Angles, Saxons, Normans. There are the pilgrims and Crusaders who came from the West to kiss the floor of the cave in which you were born. Your presepe is now found all over the face of the Earth. In the great Gothic or Romanesque cathedrals, in the mosques conquered from the Moors and consecrated to true worship, immense crowds gather around You and bring You gifts: gold, silver, incense, and above all the piety and sincerity of their hearts. The cycle of western expansion begins. The benefits of your Redemption flow abundantly over new lands. Incas, Aztecs, Tupis, Guaranis, blacks from Angola, Cape or Mina, tanned Hindus, slender and thoughtful Chinese, agile and small Japanese, all are around your presepe and adore You. The star now shines over the entire world. The angelic promise has already been heard among all peoples, and throughout the earth hearts of good will have found the priceless treasure of your peace. Overcoming all obstacles, the evangelical word was finally heard among the people of the entire world. In the midst of contemporary desolation, this great influx of men, races and nations around You is, Lord, the only consolation, the hope that remains. @EstrelaDeNatal @EstrelaDeBelem @SantoNatal
