My guest today is Christian Lindner. Christian Lindner is finance minister and party leader of the FDP. I have wanted to speak to him for a long time. But I don't think there could be a better time - because he is the politician of the hour. And although he is the smallest coalition partner within the federal government with the FDP, he has the greatest influence on how the traffic light coalition will proceed. We met on November 1st, 2024 at lunchtime. And it was a very special conversation for me. Because while we were talking, Christian kept looking at his watch, which was irritating. What I didn't realize at the time, of course, was that his 18-page economic turnaround paper was just being made public in the background. Because so much can happen politically in the next few days, I have decided to publish our conversation a few days earlier. We talk about him personally, his values, his career and his relationship to the topic of performance. But of course it is also about the ongoing traffic light dispute and its responsibility in it – in recent weeks it seemed to me as if the FDP was actually already part of the opposition.
