It is one of the least traveled places in South America: French Guiana, an overseas department that is still part of France. This department consists largely of rainforest, namely for no less than 95% of the total surface of the country. This makes it one of the most versatile nature destinations in the world and therefore a real attraction for nature lovers. Chris travels to the archipelago Île de Salut, a former penal colony. In the beginning, only the most serious terrorists and criminals were sent here, but later also petty thieves and criminals who had committed minor crimes. Most people know it because of the book Papillon about the Frenchman Henri Charrière who once escaped from the infamous Devil's Island here. Chris follows in his footsteps and goes to a destination that is important to him. The book that has captivated him for thirty years suddenly comes very close. Chris' journey continues to the rainforest of French Guiana, the neighboring country Suriname and the European Space Agency. Do you want to see that?
