Today we will talk about the best, in my opinion, speakers that many blues and rock masters have loved so much. These are Jensen and Rola Celestion speakers from the 40s-60s. Jensen was a famous manufacturer of acoustic systems in the USA in the 1950s and early 1960s. Several of the company's original designs reflect the concept of the "American sound": Jensen's P10R and P12R (15-watt Alnico speakers, 10" and 12" respectively), P10Q and P12Q (20-watt), P12N (30-watt) and several others have played a large role in the signature sound of many American musicians. Each of these models has its own individuality, but overall, common characteristics prevail. Among them are a "bell" high end, somewhat "papery" midrange that sounds clearer on clean settings, and a relatively smooth, rich low end. The Celestion G12M of the early 60s had a power reserve of 20 watts, later increased to 25 watts, which remains the standard for the classic Marshall 4x12 cabinet to this day. The sound of these speakers is at the heart of many of the greatest Rock and Blues compositions ever committed to tape. The real GreenBack, as heard by the ear, is different from all the others in that it can change the character and color of its sound depending on changes in volume and other adjustments of the amplifier. This speaker has a very smooth midrange, focused in the very middle of the musical spectrum - ideal for guitar. This speaker enhances the high-frequency basis of overdriven guitar sound, but at the same time it seems to cut out the too sharp and unpleasant to the ear high frequencies that a regular speaker reproduces.
