't Frietkot at Gatweg 4 in Scherpenisse is situated in a unique location. We visited Jaap de Wilde at Gatweg 4 in Scherpenisse on a windy afternoon to have a chat about his “Frietkot”. We saw a basic indication of the existence of the “Frietkot” along a polder road on Tholen near Scherpenisse. Jaap is a jovial talker who likes to talk about his involvement with the Frietkot. As the name suggests, it is about selling freshly baked fries with, if desired, a bowl of kibbeling on the side. Jaap was a farmer and contractor and once gave someone the opportunity to park his mobile chip shop in his barn. When the owner of that stall wanted to get rid of it, Jaap decided to buy it and do something with it. This now results in the fact that he starts up the chip shop every Saturday and Sunday to fry AVIKO fries. Fries, incidentally, come from potatoes (Agria) from Thoolse soil. Jaap's company is located on a dead-end Gatweg but close to the Oosterscheldedijk, along which a beautiful cycle path has been constructed and many people like to use it. It is also a place where many divers gather to view the nature in the Oosterschelde underwater. All potential customers for Jaap de Wilde's Frietkot. We had an animated chat with Jaap, who happily tells us about the ins and outs of his work. In addition to the Frietkot, Jaap is active as a tractor driver during the week, where he offers his services as a self-employed person.
