In almost all developing countries, children and young people make up 70 percent, and thus the absolute majority, of the population. The 1989 International Convention on the Rights of the Child defines the civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights of girls and boys under the age of eighteen. Since the rights of young people are violated in various ways around the world, the implementation of all children's rights is an immense challenge. In order for children to be able to build their future, we must all be involved in ensuring that they know their rights and that these rights are respected, protected and guaranteed. The human rights-based approach of German development cooperation policy aims to support partner countries in effectively and sustainably realizing the rights of children and young people. The clip illustrates the diversity of areas of action that have an impact on children's rights. It shows the various priority areas of intervention in development policy and highlights the direct links with children's rights. The video aims to both inform and urge us to strengthen our contribution to the realization of children's rights.
