Dopamine in Focus Dopamine is a type of neurotransmitter. Your body produces it and your nervous system uses it to send messages between nerve cells. That's why we call neurotransmitters chemical messengers. Dopamine plays an important role in how we feel pleasure. It's involved in our unique human ability to think and plan. It helps us strive, focus, and find things interesting. Too much or too little of this neurotransmitter can lead to a wide range of health problems. Some are serious, like Parkinson's disease. Others are much less dire. It's synthesized in the brain through a two-step process. First, it turns the amino acid tyrosine into a substance called dopa, and then into dopamine. It affects many parts of your behavior and physical functions, such as: Learning Motivation Heart rate Kidney function Breastfeeding Sleep Mood Attention Controlling nausea and vomiting Pain processing Movement ✅Follow @protocolosdeciencias
