Some people feel uncomfortable in the changing room and therefore avoid it. Why is that? DIFFERENT STRATEGIES FOR CHANGING ROOMS In the changing rooms of the stores H&M, Galeria, Peek & Cloppenburg, Zara, C&A and Primark, a photo is taken with the same clothes to show the differences. It is noticeable how different the lighting and mirrors are. There is a reason for this. In sales psychology, there are two strategies for setting up a changing room: to make you feel good or to make you feel uncomfortable. The first option is to encourage customers to stay longer in the fitting room and therefore buy more. The second option is exactly the opposite. Customers should leave the changing room quickly so that more customers can pass through the store in a short time and more clothes can be sold. LIGHT, MIRRORS AND SCENT Lighting plays an important role in the different changing rooms. It is often used in such a way that you cannot see any seam flaws on the clothes. Crooked mirrors have also become the norm in many changing rooms. A still relatively rare method of offering customers a feel-good experience is the use of scents in the changing rooms. This is supposed to stimulate dopamine production in the brain, making you feel better and more likely to buy.
