Today's video is all about the brakes. We demonstrate how to change the brake disc and brake pads on the front axle of a VW Golf 4. We look forward to your feedback. With our video we want to give you an overview of the work steps and not encourage you to replace the brake caliper yourself if you have no experience. Work steps for changing the brake disc and brake pads: 1. Secure the car against rolling away and remove the wheel. Carefully loosen the plug from the wear sensor and remove the brake caliper. In our case, the brake caliper holder does not have to be removed because the brake disc comes off anyway. 2. The guide bolts on the brake caliper are protected by dust caps that are pulled backwards. Then unscrew the guide bolts. The brake caliper can now be pulled off. You can now remove the brake pads from the brake calliper. The outer brake pad is levered upwards and the inner one pulled forwards because it is stuck in the brake piston with a clip. The brake hose must not be damaged and should not be held under tension, i.e. now attach the brake calliper securely to the spring with a cable tie. 3. The brake disc is still held in place by a mounting screw. Remove this and take off the brake disc. 4. Prepare the wheel hub and remove any rust. The brake disc must lie flat. The guide rails of the brake calliper holder must also be thoroughly cleaned to prevent the brake pads from jamming. 5. Attach the brake disc and secure it with the mounting screw. 6. Before turning the brake piston back, check whether brake fluid needs to be drained. If necessary, use a suitable syringe and suck out the excess brake fluid. This is toxic and aggressive and therefore hazardous waste. 7. The brake piston is then pushed back using a brake piston retractor. The contact surface of the brake pads is greased to enable better gliding. The service paste is usually included with the brake pads. 8. The inner brake pad is inserted first and must audibly click into place. The outer pad is inserted from above. When mounting the brake calliper on the calliper carrier, care must be taken that the calliper carrier sits between the pad and the brake calliper. Don't forget the wear sensor and connect it. The transport lock is removed by pressing the lever of the connector downwards. 9. Clean the guide bolts with a wire brush and reinsert them. They must not jam when screwing them in. First tighten them by hand and then with the specific torque. The dust caps go back on too. 10. Before mounting the wheel, clean the brake disc with brake cleaner. Finally, pump up the brake by pedaling several times so that the brake pads are back on the brake disc and check the level of the brake fluid at the end. ►Brake pads: http://bit.ly/NowBremsbelagSichern ►Brake disc: http://bit.ly/NowBremsscheibeSichern ►Brake fluid: http://bit.ly/BremsfluessigkeitSichern ►Tools: http://bit.ly/Passendes WerkzeugSichern
