The aging of the Brazilian population is already a reality. Today, there are 25 million elderly people in the country; in 2025, there will be 36 million, and in 2050, one third of the population will be over 60 years old. The Elderly Statute has been in force since 2003. In 15 years, a lot has changed. More than 130 bills currently being processed in the Chamber propose changes to the Elderly Statute. The Committee for the Defense of the Rights of the Elderly has created a subcommittee to suggest updates to the Statute. The Câmara Debate will welcome the rapporteur of the subcommittee, Rep. Flávia Moraes, from the PDT of GO, and Rep. Gilberto Nascimento, vice-president of the Elderly Committee, from the PSC of SP. Check out our terms of use: http://www.camara.leg.br/internet/tvc...
