Photographing the landscape in the central hours, in summer, with the scorching sun, is a great challenge, difficult to win, but if you don't try you'll never know. For this video I looked for a very hot, boiling area, in the open countryside between hills and preferably with a lot of fog. I returned to an isolated area, among wheat fields in lower Maremma. There wasn't much fog but the heat... the heat yes, tremendous, at 12:00 the thermometer already marked 36 degrees kept at bay by a light breeze. I started taking pictures but no matter how much you want to hurry, between putting on your backpack, the tripod on your shoulder and setting off, one o'clock comes like nothing. As I walked I felt the temperature rising, the dirt road was getting hot and that pleasant breeze was decreasing. I certainly wasn't scared, it was what I was looking for. I found a hill and started taking pictures, the colors were beautiful and saturated, a wide landscape without any clouds, not even a single dot and this is not the best for landscape photography, but for the conditions I was looking for it was ideal. I took many shots, both with my 16-55, which came back from repair after a good 5 months... and with the 50-140. I walked a lot, I sweated a lot, I took a lot of pictures, but I didn't eat even a cracker and I didn't drink even a drop of water... you don't do it, you should never do it because walking in that heat, your body risks dehydrating. Around 2 pm the outside temperature was 38 degrees, an exaggerated heat that was starting to bother me, but I kept going to finish the job. It was tiring, a lot, but at a certain point I really felt the need to drink, so I closed up and went to the nearest bar, about 8 kilometers away where I got a sandwich and a bottle of mineral water... I came back exhausted but very satisfied. The shooting difficulties were many, the sun was too high to take landscape photographs, humidity in the air and the heat that deformed the subjects in the distance a lot, causing blurring and low definition. It was a great challenge, interesting, which shows how the rules can be broken but, as they say, everything has a price.
