Héctor Lavoe was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, on September 30, 1946, and died in Queens, United States, on June 29, 1993. From 1967 to 1974, he was a member of Willie Colón's orchestra, with which he achieved great successes such as aguanilé. He was also part of the cast of the salsa orchestra, Fania All Stars, from its creation in 1968, until his last years of life. Lavoe is also known as the King of Salsa and was one of the main artists of the Fania Records label as well as the Fania All Star.
