We are Sales and Crys! We are on the Pacha Mama Expedition designed by Globe Motorhomes from Uberlândia, Minas Gerais. We are exploring the Carretera Austral, a scenic Patagonian route that is unique in the world and that delights all those who visit it, with breathtaking landscapes! The Carretera Austral begins in the city of Puerto Montt and ends at Villa O'Higgins, in Puerto Bahamondes. The route is 1,240 km long and is within Chilean territory. It begins between Camahueto Square and the Pto. Montt bus terminal in Puerto Montt. It ends at Lake O'higgins, in the Aysén region of Puerto Bahamondes. The closest inhabited village to this location, about 4.1 km away, is also called O'higgins. It began to be built in 1976, during the government of Chilean Augusto Pinochet. The goal was to reinforce Chile's sovereignty by connecting isolated regions in the south of the country.
