Carla Sozzani is a gallery owner, publisher, journalist and entrepreneur. In 1989, she founded the Galleria Carla Sozzani and is the creator of the fashion and art space 10 Corso Como, in Milan. In the 1980s, she was editor-in-chief of all the special issues of Vogue Italia, collaborating with photographers and artists Sarah Moon, Herb Ritts, Bruce Weber, Paolo Roversi, Robert Mapplethorpe, William Wigman and Deborah Tuberville. In 1986, she left Vogue Italia and was appointed editor-at-large for Italy of the US edition of Vogue by Alexander Liberman. In 1987, she launched and directed the Italian edition of Elle. In 1989, she met the American artist Kris Ruhs, with whom she established a professional and personal partnership. In 1990, she founded the Galleria Carla Sozziani at 10 Corso Como, in Milan. The gallery focuses mainly on photography and publishes exhibition catalogues and books on the work of Walter Albini, Pierre Cardin, Rudi Gemreich, Paco Rabanne and numerous photographers. It later curates more than 250 photography and design exhibitions, presenting artists such as Man Ray, Horst, Annie Leibovitz, Helmut Newton, David La Chapelle, Jean Prouvé, Marc Newson, Kuramata Shirō, Loretta Lux and Walter Polidori. In 1991, the gallery expands to include a fashion and design shop, a bookshop, a café-restaurant in an urban garden, the 3 Rooms hotel and a panoramic garden.
