In the port of Naples, the second most important in Italy after Genoa, we take a ferry across the Gulf of Naples. From the boat we see Vesuvius, Sorrento, the exclusive hill of Posillipo and the island of Ischia and we arrive at our destination: the island of Capri. We sail along the coast of this small island of only 12 km, seeing Mount Solaro, the highest point on the island; the old fishing port of the Marina Grande district and the rock from which Tiberius threw Roman slaves into the sea. We are amazed by the colour of the water in the Grotta Verde; we visit the famous Capri Faraglioni, where a species of blue lizard unique in the world lives; and of course, we cross the “Arch of Eternal Love”. We continue sailing to Marina Piccola, where the houses of celebrities such as Sofia Loren and Giorgio Armani are located, and we arrive at the Grotta Bianca, where there is a stalactite whose shape is said to resemble the Virgin Mary. We return to land to go up to the Piazzetta di Capri, the nerve centre of the island, an area of exclusive shops, such as Antonio Viva's shop: L'Arte del Sandalo Caprese, where we can buy the sandals made popular by Jacqueline Kennedy. We also visit the Charterhouse of San Giacomo and its perfume factory: Carthusia, where perfumes have been made with the flowers of the island since the 14th century. And we go up to Anacapri, the upper part of the island, to visit the luxurious Capri Palace hotel.
