This video was produced by the Department of Culture of the State of São Paulo in 2016 to compose the Kit Etnias, a series of four documentaries that cover black and gypsy cultures. To represent black culture, the resistance circles of this culture and tradition were chosen: samba, capoeira and candomblé. The videos were directed by filmmaker and cultural producer Heitor Werneck. The Kit Etnias can support municipalities in the implementation of Federal Laws No. 10.639/03 and No. 11.645/08, which made the teaching of African History, African and Afro-Brazilian culture, as well as indigenous history and culture mandatory in the basic education curriculum. Each video is between 10 and 15 minutes long, ideal for starting a debate on the issues. The central idea of each episode is to give voice to the characters, so that they themselves tell and exemplify their relationship with culture.
