We share with him a key moment of his business: the harvest of plums and the drying that allows them to be made into prunes. Created by the cross between a Syrian plum brought back during the crusades and a local plum, the Ente plum has enjoyed worldwide success since the 17th century, becoming the favorite food of sailors. Heading towards Temple sur Lot, we will meet an incredible story: that of the Latour Marliac nursery. Robert Sheldon is the owner of this nursery founded in 1875, which has become the world reference for lovers of aquatic plants. Joseph Bory Latour Marliac was in fact the first in the world to successfully cross colorful exotic water lilies and European white water lilies. By presenting his collection at the 1889 World's Fair, he will seduce a certain Claude Monnet who will exclusively supply himself from him to create his garden in Giverny. This nursery still remains today the leading supplier of colorful rustic water lilies in the world. We end our escapades in Lot-et-Garonne with a character: Kate Hill. An American who arrived by barge 20 years ago and fell under the spell of this Gascony.
