Until 1979, there was a passenger train service that connected Argentina with Chile, then in 1984 the freight service between the two countries was also suspended and in 1992 the local tracks were no longer used. A few years later, the Trans-Andean Ferrotour Association was created, which dedicated itself to restoring the tracks of this old branch line that today can be traveled through a rather peculiar way: A bicitren. What is that? A set of bicycles adapted to the train tracks on which you pedal along the entire route. We, in addition to having used the Bicitren, were lucky enough to have traveled the entire track route through the Ferro Tractor, which is basically a railway tractor with a Citroen engine. And to close as we deserve, we concluded the day with a delicious vegetarian snack at an inn in Chacras de Coria. Here I leave you all the information to take the bike train ride, the Ferrotour page and also the inn where we ate: Bicitren: https://www.bicitren.com.ar/ / bicitren.mendoza Ferrotour: / ferroturtrasandino Posada las Chacras: / posadalaschacras https://posadalaschacras.com.ar/ And I take this opportunity to thank my great childhood friend, Polaco, who was the one who recommended me to take this tour and gave me all the information.
