Yes, I can ground using just one rod when the property is already built, is undergoing renovation and I don't have space to ground with more than one rod or for any other reason I can't change the property's infrastructure. For example, properties that are listed as historical heritage sites in the city. I can also use this method of installing just one rod if the installation is temporary. But be careful, guys, I can't just drive in a rod and say that I have a safe and efficient grounding. Some details have to be observed so that I can guarantee my grounding even using just one rod. The first factor is to ensure that my rod is standardized, that is, it needs to have the minimum diameter required by the standard and the minimum amount of copper also required by the standard. Every standardized rod must have the standard to which it was tested and the amount of copper involved in the material (copper-plated steel) marked on the rod itself. The second factor is to ensure that my protections will disconnect in the event of a ground fault. If my grounding scheme is TN then I don't need to worry about the grounding resistance, the standard doesn't even mention the grounding resistance value for a TN scheme. If my grounding scheme is TT then I need to worry about the grounding resistance, if my protection disconnection is done by a 30mA IDR then I need to ensure a grounding resistance below 1,666 ohms. But since I know that the grounding material (rod) and others can deteriorate a little over time and the soil itself can offer small variations in the value of this resistance over time then it is preferable that I consider a safety margin and that this value remains well below 1,666 ohms. With this guaranteed I can conclude that my grounding with only one rod will offer me safety and automatic disconnection in case of a fault. This was just an extreme example for situations where I can't do anything different. If you have space available, build a grounding scheme that complies with one of the four situations suggested in standard NBR-5410.
