A third wheel on a motorcycle is nothing new; manufacturers have been trying to improve the stability of two-wheelers for as long as these two-wheelers have existed. Extra wheels take root painfully: sidecars are rare, and you don't often see a trike on the road. The BRP concern tried to rethink the concept of a three-wheeler, and hit the nail on the head - there were quite a few people who wanted to ride a motorcycle that doesn't fall.
