"Yama-chan's Clothing Heaven" is a series that visits men's shops that are now endangered species, and this time we visited Kamakura for the first time in a local area. The store we visited was "Namikya". Yes, the famous store in Ryogoku that we introduced in the first installment of the series has moved to this city! Last time, the store suddenly closed due to road widening construction just one week after the video was uploaded. After a period of recharging, the owner Nakajima Hiroshi opened a new store in his hometown of Kamakura this spring. And the new store is on Wakamiya-oji, a main street that is like Meiji-dori in Tokyo! Nakajima-san is amazing... or so I thought, but there is no sign on the main street, so you would never know it was there if you were passing by, in the usual Namikiya style. If it were me, I would put up a flashy sign and sell tapioca on the side, but that's Nakajima-san's way of valuing his regular customers. The landmark is the super popular pizza restaurant DADA, so please go and check it out. Namikiya is a store that has captivated connoisseurs with its miraculous assortment of deadstock items, from old American casual wear to traditional British products, but due to the influence of this series, for better or worse (?), it seems that they have sold out a lot of the items they were looking for. It's a shame, but it means we can enjoy the passionate buying of the famous buyer, Nakajima, so we're looking forward to what's to come! So, the highlight of the restart is the Hoffa Tyrolean jacket. This is a classic product that represents the mountainous country of Austria, and was a big hit in the select shop area in the mid-1980s. I've never been to Austria, but I often see old gentlemen in Milan wearing it. In fact, Hoffa went out of business a long time ago, but Nakajima, thanks to his connections with the founding family, managed to buy an amazing 80 pieces! They can only be purchased at Namikiya and CLOWER HOUSE, a shop run by Nakajima's son in Takasaki City. This is your last chance to buy a brand new jacket, so don't miss it! To tell you the truth, it was my first time seeing one in brand new condition, and the compression is on a completely different level from modern Tyrolean jackets that have been updated to international specifications. It's so tightly woven that, to be honest, it's extremely heavy and hot! But the texture and color scheme make this jacket a real Tyrolean jacket that gives off a strong sense of Tyrolean culture. It stretches as you wear it, so don't wear it oversized like young people do today. Choose the right size. In addition to this, I also tried on a Garrick Anderson jacket that I missed out on buying when I was in Ryogoku. This is an American designer brand that was all the rage in the 1980s, and it released a collection with a British taste using prestigious factories such as Turnbull & Asser in the UK for shirts and St. Andrews in Italy for jackets, and was loved by fashion freaks at the time. This Glen check jacket is more British than British, with its broad shoulders, soft construction, and draping around the bust! More Ralph than Ralph! More Anderson & Shepherd than modern Anderson & Shepherd!!! And at 44,000 yen, you have no choice but to buy it. The reason is that, just between you and me, St. Andrews is known as the factory of Ralph Lauren's top line, Purple Label (currently unknown). As the name suggests, they specialize in British-style manufacturing, and although they cannot be compared to Naples-style Attolini, the quality of their tailoring is world-class! In the end, I bought two pairs, so I bought them. I heard that real Gurkha pants will be in stock in the fall, and I think I'll buy those too. I'm impressed by Nakajima's sense and network! In fact, in addition to Namikiya, there is another clothing store in Kamakura that I love. It's a famous store with an incredible selection of products, from American outdoor and western clothing to British hats, but it's even more unique than the previous "Matsuzaki Shoten (Ueno)".
