This is of course related to the electrification of the fleet, which can be said to have begun on a large scale. The first of 50 articulated electric Solaris buses ordered by BVG has already been delivered to Berlin, and several hundred of them could be delivered to Berlin if the order is extended. All 50 buses are to be on the lines this year, and almost 300 additional electric buses can be ordered under the framework agreement. However, this also depends on the construction of the necessary infrastructure, in the form of chargers at the end stops and the adaptation of the bus depot, and this is a laborious process, as is the case in Germany. The goal is, however, huge - replacing the entire fleet of 1,600 buses with zero-emission ones by 2030. However, BVG is not overly burdened - it only covers the costs that would be necessary in the case of purchasing ordinary combustion vehicles, and the Federal Ministry of Transport is responsible for the rest.
