FARM CONTACT / fazendavargemgrande MANSION FROM 1837 Have you ever imagined staying in an authentic mansion from 1837? In addition to transporting visitors back to the 19th century through its historic construction, the spaces at Fazenda Vargem Grande have a major difference: the combination of colonial style with modernist furniture. The result is a house with an elegant and very welcoming contrast. This imposing architectural complex, which has over 180 years of history, was restored in the 1970s. Coordinated by Clemente Fagundes Gomes, the restoration work took about 5 years, was carried out based on photos and documents from the farm, and respected the old building. As a result, the mansion from 1837 gained new dependencies that were attached to the original project, respecting the design and volume of the old building. However, the difference between the spaces is almost imperceptible, since the details of the finish and design steal the attention. The colors of the facade and spaces were also inspired by the era, a choice by landscaper and artist Roberto Burle Marx. All these historical details of the house and the finely tuned curation of furniture by Brazilian and international modernist designers from the 50s and 60s transform the farm's environments into cozy and sophisticated spaces.
