Ephesians 4:1-16 1Therefore, as a prisoner for the Lord, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called. 2With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love. 3Make every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope of your calling; 5one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6one God and Father of all, who is above all, through all, and in you all. 7But to each of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ's gift. 8Therefore it says: “When he ascended on high, he led captive a host of captives, and gave gifts to men.” 9What does it mean when it is said, “He ascended,” except that he descended into the regions lower than the earth? 10He who descended is the one who ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things. 11And he himself gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, 12to equip the saints for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up, 13until we all attain to unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. 14So that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning and deceitful scheming. 15But speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into Christ, who is the head, 16from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work properly.
