/ vitdavid / vitezydavid We put a lot of work into it, and I am proud that I was able to present the Southern Ring Railway project at the meeting of the Metropolitan Public Development Council, the joint urban development forum of the Capital and the Government, and that the Council supported the implementation of the investment. In the video below, we have summarized the details of the railway development project. Our goal is to enable more suburban trains to come to Budapest from the agglomeration, and for the railway to play a greater role and become competitive in Budapest's transport through new stops and new connections. Such a railway development has not happened in the inner area of Budapest for more than 100 years, and this is the first railway investment in many decades that, with new stops and more frequent trains, will benefit not only commuters but also those traveling within the city. Our goal is to have trains running every 10-15 minutes on the Ring Railway, connecting Érd, Budaörs and the surrounding Buda agglomeration, Budafok-Nagytéteny, Kelenföld, the university city of Újbuda, the Soroksári út area and the Déli Városkapu, as well as the Népliget area with Kőbánya-Kispest, the airport and the Pest agglomeration. The project can make the railway much more competitive, and thus Budapest can be freed from significant road traffic and thus air pollution. The council led by Minister Gergely Gulyás and Mayor Gergely Karácsony reached an agreement that the railway development is worth supporting and implementing due to its transport, climate protection and environmental benefits. The FKT stated that as a result of the investment, the current noise pollution of the population, which exceeds the permitted limit, must be reduced to the lowest possible level with new, modern noise protection walls. The FKT also agreed that the extent of green areas affected during the construction should be reduced to a minimum, and the park along Hamzsabégi Road affected by the investment should be developed into a high-quality public park that serves the needs of the people living in the area to the maximum. In line with this, the FKT also accepted the proposal of State Secretary Balázs Fürjes that the construction of the new main road planned on Hamzsabégi Road should be jointly deleted by the Capital City and the Government from the regulatory plans, national and capital planning documents. Here, in connection with the construction of the Lágymányosi Bridge, a road has been planned for decades, which would have been built in place of the park. As part of the railway development, the park will be completely renovated, involving the local residents, and the plan for the road route will now be jointly deleted from the long-term plans by the Capital City and the Government, with the green area being preserved and designated as a permanent green area. Local residents rightly raised the lack of information regarding the investment, and the dialogue initiated with the Capital and the 11th district following the establishment of the Budapest Development Center, and today's decision by the FKT, will now change this. I understand the concerns of local residents, which is why we tried to present it in this video: we are planning a railway development that takes maximum account of the residents, reduces noise pollution, and is most gentle on the surrounding green areas despite such a large investment. The development of the railway and the construction of new tracks necessary for the increase in service are unthinkable without cutting down trees due to the characteristics of the location, but after examining all possible alternatives during the planning of the investment, we came to the conclusion that the proposed solution causes the least tree loss, so the FKT also accepted it today. Representatives of the Government and the management of the Capital City agreed today that in addition to replacing the trees affected by the construction and planting more than 2,000 new trees, the livability of the affected area must also be improved, for example by building new bicycle and pedestrian crossings under the railway. With the involvement of local residents, the 11th district and the Capital City, we are looking for ways to connect the renovated park with other green areas in the surrounding districts, and, accepting today's proposals from the Capital City, implement the green developments at the earliest possible stage of the project.
