In 2015, the electric ringing of the four bells was already recorded ( • Bruges, Saint Walburga Church, bells ). This time we also rang each bell solo and the four bells manually to avoid bell 1 bouncing. Moreover, the motor of bell 2 has been defective for years. The bells originally hung in the old Saint Walburga Church, demolished in 1781. The current Baroque church was built between 1619 and 1641 and was first dedicated to Saint Francis Xavier. In 1778, the Jesuit church became the church of the Saint Walburga parish. The founder of the four bells from 1576 is most likely Marc le Serre, even though we have not yet found the name of the founder. However, we have not yet been able to fully decipher the text on the lower edge of bell 1. The decorations around bell 1 are identical to a bell by the same founder from 1577 (Westkerke). • Westkerke, Sint-Audomaruskerk, bells. A certain Boudewijn Wyts is often mentioned as the founder, but that person is said to have been a surgeon from Bruges. With thanks to the churchwardenship of Sint-Walburga for their permission to record the bells. Also thanks to the sexton, Mr. Kinds, for the reception on site.
