How do customer services solve the problem? We do the test with a hidden camera. Felix Spörl has been cooking on his ceramic hob for over 10 years and has always been satisfied. Recently, however, one of the plates has been acting up and is not heating up. Is the hob junk, or can it still be repaired? STOVE IS 10 YEARS OLD – IS IT WORTH REPAIRING? For Walter Seinsche, our publicly appointed expert, this is not an uncommon problem: “In this fitted kitchen there is a built-in stove, consisting of an oven section and a control panel for a ceramic hob. The combination is around 10 years old and was in the upper price segment at the time. And we now have a fault with this ceramic hob, namely the small front left plate is defective. The heating coil is broken there.” That sounds like a total failure for a stove. Is it still worth repairing? “The customer service technician can of course say that due to the age of the built-in stove with the ceramic hob, it is not worth repairing,” says Walter Seinsche. "But if we now focus a little on sustainability, this repair would still be in proportion to the new price of the stove at a maximum of 280 euros." TRADEMEN'S CHECK WITH HIDDEN CAMERA Do specialist companies see it that way in view of the scarcity of raw materials and the question of sustainability? Or is it just about making quick money and selling at any price? We position our hidden cameras so that Walter Seinsche can keep an eye on the tradesmen on the monitor next door.
