On June 20, 2011, Yvan Colonna, a shepherd and pro-independence activist, was sentenced for this crime to life imprisonment, without a security period, by the special assize court in Paris. On January 11, 2013, he appealed to the European Court of Human Rights, considering that his trial had not been fair. In January 2015, his application was declared admissible by the Court.
