Marieke is bullied by other girls, with Gaya in the lead, after gym class because she doesn't want to get changed after gym. Emma stands up for her, which (almost) leads to a fight. Fortunately, gym teacher Eerkens manages to intervene. Emma thinks she knows why Marieke doesn't want to shower: she has seen bruises on her back and arms and is almost certain that she is being abused. Emma and Gaya have to stay after school because of the pushing in the locker room. But Emma refuses to say why she reacted so strongly. The next day, Emma talks to Marieke. She thinks that she should confide in a teacher about what is going on. But Marieke is shocked that her secret has come out. She wonders why (and what) Emma is interfering with. She wants nothing to do with Emma.
