Having promised for years to re-record this samba when Botafogo won a national title, singer and composer Leo Russo, right after the Libertadores and Brazilian Championship titles in 2024, keeps his promise and re-records the samba written by the late Dom Elias, exactly 35 years after the recording by his godmother Beth Carvalho, in 1989, the year Leo was born. Russo, who in 2015 recorded “Reage meu Botafogo”, and had already sung “Botafogocampeã” live with his godmother Beth Carvalho, dedicates this recording to all the Botafogo fans who waited so long for this moment.
