Synthetic drugs pose one of the most serious threats to Kazakhstan. In addition to the devastating health consequences for those who use them, drugs cause a sharp rise in crime. In recent years, the number of drug addicts and drug-related offenses has increased significantly. The increase in the number of underage drug couriers is especially alarming. Through social networks, young men and women, including teenagers, are offered “highly paid” work that does not require experience or special skills. They often do not realize either the full danger or the fact that drug trafficking in Kazakhstan is punishable by 10 to 20 years in prison. Kazakhstani prisons are rapidly filling up with people convicted of drug trafficking. According to official data, there are currently about 4.3 thousand people convicted of drug distribution, storage, and production in penal institutions. Over the past two years, the number of people convicted of drug distribution has increased by 30%. Why are Kazakhstani youth increasingly involved in the drug business and what consequences does this have for their lives? This is what our new film is all about!
